The self catering cottage is the converted byre of our 200 year old croft house and a sense of this history still settles over the cottage and its surroundings. The cottage has recently been refurbished to a high standard, and the views from all the window are delightful. Although attached to our own house, the cottage at Moorcroft is totally self contained with parking to the door.
Moorcroft is set in over five acres of grounds with picnic tables, seats and a summerhouse. To the rear is a large garden, a meadow with an ancient cairn and a shady picnic area to sit and watch the wildlife, or the sun setting over Mull. To the front, over the minor road is a grassy bank with paths and a track leading down to a private area of the shore of Loch Etive. From this lovely spot, with its stunning views to Ben Cruachan, you would be very unlucky not to see cormorants, oyster catchers, a heron, a family of ducks, or the bobbing black head of a seal.
A Post Office and shop, restaurants and pubs are available at Connel (2.5 miles); and Benderloch (3miles) has a garage, hardware/toy/camping/outdoor clothing shop, a Post Office and grocers, a café with second-hand bookshop and a sandy beach to explore.
The Bonawe Road is ideal for easy walking or cycling, or if you prefer something more strenuous, a track from Benderloch leads up to the summit of Beinn Lora which, on a clear day, will reward you with a breathtaking view.
